How to choose an Odoo partner: 10 questions to ask before you sign

Odoo projects rarely fail because of the software. They fail because of unclear scope, over-customisation, or a partner who disappears after go-live. These are the questions we would ask if we were in your position.
1. Are you an official Odoo partner?
Official partners are listed on odoo.com with their partner level (Ready, Silver or Gold), which reflects certified staff and Odoo activity. Being listed means Odoo knows them; the level tells you something about their scale, not automatically about their fit for you.
2. Who will actually work on our project?
Ask to meet the consultant and developers, not just the salesperson. Small senior teams often outperform large agencies that hand you to juniors after signing.
3. Do you have certified Odoo consultants?
Odoo certifications are version-specific. Ask which versions the team is certified on.
4. Have you done this in our industry?
Ask for a relevant case study or reference you can call.
5. How do you decide what to customise?
A good partner will push back on unnecessary customisation, because every custom module makes future upgrades more expensive.
6. What happens at upgrade time?
Odoo releases a new major version every year. Ask how custom modules will be migrated and who pays for it.
7. How do you handle data migration?
Look for a clear process: extract, cleanse, map, import, validate, with dry runs before go-live.
8. Fixed price or time and materials?
Fixed price needs a detailed written scope. Time and materials needs transparent reporting. Either can work; vague scope with a fixed price rarely does.
9. What support do we get after go-live?
Ask about response times, who answers, and what is included in a support agreement.
10. Who owns the code?
Make sure custom modules developed for you are delivered to you, so you are never locked in.
We are happy to answer every one of these for your project. InTechual Solutions is an official Odoo Ready Partner with a senior team of ten that has worked only on Odoo since 2017.
