WhatsApp and Odoo: your integration options compared

Customers increasingly expect quotes, invoices and delivery updates on WhatsApp. There are three main ways to connect it to Odoo, and the right one depends on your edition, version and how much automation you need.
Option 1: Odoo's native WhatsApp app (Enterprise)
Recent versions of Odoo Enterprise include a WhatsApp app built on Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform. It supports approved message templates and conversations linked to Odoo records. It is a good fit if you are already on a recent Enterprise version.
Option 2: Apps from the Odoo Apps Store
If you are on Community, or an older Odoo version, Odoo Apps Store modules fill the gap. We publish a family of WhatsApp apps covering CRM, Sales, Purchase, Invoicing, Payments, POS, Delivery, HR and Surveys, plus an All-in-One bundle and an Advanced edition with scheduling and domain-based recipient filters, supporting Odoo versions from 10 to 20.
Option 3: Custom integration
For high-volume or highly specific flows, such as two-way conversations routed to different teams or chatbot-style automation, a custom integration with Meta's Cloud API gives full control.
Things to check whichever option you choose
- Business-initiated messages generally require templates approved by Meta.
- Customers must opt in to receive WhatsApp messages from you.
- Meta charges for certain message types; check Meta's current pricing for your country.
- Decide which Odoo events should trigger a message, and who owns replies.
